NARS Deep Throat and Chihuahua

Before I went on vacation I noticed that Renate wanted the infamous NARS "Orgasm" blush, and seeing that I already had like three of them (one blush, two different duos), I decided to ask her if she would like to buy one of mine. I mean, there's no use in hoarding, right? She proposed a swap, and I thought it sounded fun so I agreed. I don't own any other blushes from NARS, so I asked Renate to choose one she liked a lot. She went for "Deep Throat" (flirty sheer peach). Needless to say, I love the names of these blushes! Her package didn't reach me before I left home, but she left me a message telling me that it would be waiting for me when I got home, with a little surprise. She's such a sweetheart! So when I went to the post office on Friday I got her package among a few other things (more about that later), and when I opened it I found "Deep Throat" and a lip gloss from NARS in "Chihuahua" (sheer guavtone). Chihuahua! It must be cutest gift ever, so thoughtful and sweet, and I really love both the name and the color.

Would you look at those colors? A million thanks, Renate! Grin

My Paradise is at Cap Ferrat

I almost jumped from joy when Mr. Postman finally stopped by with a package for me yesterday. I say 'finally' because Mr. Postman seems to be taking his time nowadays. The package contained goodies I wouldn't have been able to get my hands on if it hadn't been for Fieran and her man, so thank you so much to the both of you! Please let me know if I can do anything in return. I'd be more than happy to be of assistance. Heart

Laura Mercier: brushesMr. Postman has left my mailbox famished the last couple of days, but yesterday I received a small padded envelope filled with bubble wrap - and a few makeup items. I had placed another order with Kiss & Makeup because I wanted a brush from Laura Mercier, another eyeshadow duo from NARS and a pump for my Sheer Glow Foundation, but I ended up ordering the Finishing Eye Brush and the Smoky Eye Liner Brush, and the incredibly gorgeous "Persepolis" (shimmering sea green/regal blue) eyeshadow duo. The pump was unfortunately out of stock, so I'll have to pick it up next time I order from them instead. I'm really looking forward to trying out these brushes as I've heard a lot of nice things about the ones from Laura Mercier, and I'll do a little review when I've had the chance to try them out.

I've managed to accumulated quite a few NARS duos now, and I must say that "Persepolis" had become one of my absolute favorites. It's quite loud, and maybe not the everyday duo you'd reach for before storming out the door in the morning, but I think it's gorgeous. Mariah Loves Make Up has swatches of this duo, and please take a look at Made in Taiwan for a beautiful look. Not too long ago I also received "Rajasthan" in the mail, swatches at Temptalia, which was one of the two limited edition duos from NARS' Fall Collection in 2010, and a highlight/blush duo in "Albatross/Orgasm".

I've added promo pictures of these duos because it's almost impossible to capture their true colors in photos, so I gave up. Now that I'm starting to feel better in general I'll try to do some looks in the near future. I know I've been saying that a lot, but I just haven't had the health or energy to play around with makeup for about six months now. It might be hard to understand for someone who's not into makeup themselves, but I'm really looking forward to rediscovering my passion for makeup and colors.

NARS Melusine

I love talking with Fieran and Pinchy about nothing and everything, even though we tend to have quite bad influence on each other - enablers as we are, all three of us. When Fieran came back from her trip to San Francisco I asked her about some of the products she'd ended up getting, and she showed me pictures and stuff. She also told me she was really sad about skipping one of the holiday eyeshadow duos from NARS, namely Mélusine. I couldn't remember having seen it, so I did a little research on Google - and what do you know, it instantly settled amongst the top three items on my List of Lemmings. She should have know better than to tickle my curiosity like that!

NARS Eyeshadow Duo: MelusineAs I've said many times before I seriously think these NARS eyeshadow duos are a bit on the expensive side, although their shadows have amazing texture and great quality, but I've still managed to accumulate a few of them. They are not what I go hunting for when I'm buying eyeshadow, but sometimes I discover a duo I'm having a hard time forgetting, and I end up buying it. Mélusine was one of them, and seeing that it was a holiday item, I didn't dare wait particularly long before I jumped on it. I now know that this is a permanent item. On NARS' website it's described as pale silver lilac and bright deep purple. Unfortunately I found it impossible to make the camera pick up the lilac in the silvery shadow, but it's pale lilac indeed.

It's no secret that I prefer purple and brown shades when I'm doing my eye makeup, even though I own just about every color available out there. This duo is no exception, it's plain out gorgeous! By coincidence I stumbled upon a German blog named Bluebell's Beauty Blog when I was searching for swatches and looks with Mélusine. Take a look at her amazing FOTD - and this is the look that actually made me decide to purchase this duo.
