Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow/Liner: Strut
Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow/Liner: Skinny Jeans
Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow/Liner: Stiletto

So I've ventured into a new brand. I've never been much of a Benefit gal, their infamous blushes and powders have never interested me, but there I was.. glaring at their website, getting ready to order. See, I wanted to try out three of their Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows. I've originally wanted to get M·A·C Dangerous Cuvee Paint Pot which was released with Cham Pale, but I decided to skip it due to the fact that it's rumored to have a lot of fallout, and I didn't really like the frostiness. Benefit Skinny Jeans (pretty pewter) on the other hand seems to be the perfect base for a darker smokey eye, and I decided to include it in my collection.. together with Strut (smoky denim) and Stiletto (aubergine). From before I own Marry Up (brushed copper) which is just gorgeous!

My order turned up in the mail today, together with the Benefit Talent Brush which is a synthetic-bristle shadow/liner brush. I thought it would be nice to use with these Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows. I ordered from Benefit on February 17th, it was shipped on the 18th, and arrived today March 3rd. Shipping was $14.95 (or about 84,- NOK with today's exchange rate). but would have been free if my total had been $115 or more. My order's value was still above the tax limit, so naturally I had to pay fees and taxes as expected.

These cream eyeshadows are said to be creaseless, meaning that they won't stripe on your eyelids, but after doing some quick research it seems like most people prefer to use them in combination with a primer. I've made a habit of always using a primer underneath my eyeshadow to prevent creasing, but I'll be testing these cream eyeshadows both with and without a primer underneath.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow: Strut, Skinny Jeans, Stiletto

And while we're talking about primers:
If you're experiencing creasing when you wear eyeshadow, I suggest you use a primer underneath your eyeshadow. In case you didn't know, a primer and a base are two different products, even though many people seem to think it's one and the same. It's not. Where some may be good using a base only, others will experience creasing within a short period of time - so if you're like me, be sure to always prime your eyelids before starting on your eyeshadow. For instance, M·A·C Paint Pots which are available in a variety of colors are not primers, they are bases, and they will not prevent creasing if you are prone to the problem. If you're looking for a good primer, then try out Urban Decay Primer Potion which is now available in three different finishes, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Art Deco Eyeshadow Base or even NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (which are a primer and a base in one product).

“All things lost are meant to be found”

NARS Purple RainMr. Postman finally decided that he had kept me waiting long enough, and delivered my "missing" package yesterday. I was extremely happy that it hadn't been lost at all, just engaging it a little vacation somewhere between France and here obviously. Now I finally have my gorgeous NARS Purple Rain nail polish! I'm not going to redo what someone else has done successfully before me, so if you'd like to see swatches of this incredible polish, please take a look at this review by Vampy Varnish. Would you look at that mesmerizing color? Amazing. Just utterly amazing. I haven't tried it on yet, but according to Vampy Varnish it's "like butter, so flawless and beautiful", and I have absolutely no problems believing her. The package also held the Benefit Brow Zings I talked about here, and Amira made sure that it was one with the new packaging. It's so cute! The box kinda resembles the palettes from Sleek Cosmetics, with the words "brow zings" sort of etched into the black lid. It gave me a very nice first impression. The two brushes are the cutest little things, and so are the tiny tweezers that comes with the set. There's also a mirror inside the lid, which is very handy. I was kinda planning on using the Brow Zings as a gift, but I'm thinking that I might have to keep it for myself and rather learn how to shape and fill in my brows. So much for the thought of being nice to someone else.

Unfortunately I'm not expecting much more mail now, except maybe one little package or two. Thankfully my account was refilled yesterday, but that doesn't matter much as it's just as empty today as it was before yesterday. I just hate paying bills, it's frigging depressing! But the thing is.. I've decided to pull the hand break when it comes to my shopping habits. It's going to be hard, since I'm clearly a shopaholic, or rather heavily addicted to the mail and packages that keeps popping up in our mailbox as a natural consequence of the shopping - but I need money for something else, way more important, so I'm making a choice. Am I good, or am I good? I'm thinking I need to go to some kind of rehab to make it, and I'll surely go cold turkey somewhere along the line. Anyway, withdrawal starts now - keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, and don't be worried, it's just a temporary thing. Razz

The evil Mr. Postman

I think Mr. Postman has decided to punish me for some unknown reason. As I've mentioned a couple of times already, I'm still waiting for the package I ordered from Asos on February 19th containing the insanely cute little purse, which was marked as shipped the same day I ordered it. Well, since nothing has arrived yet I decided to write an e-mail to their customer service asking if they might have any way of tracking my shipment. I got an answer within 15 minutes informing me that there was no records of my package to be found anywhere, so unfortunately it had to be lost somewhere. I was also told that a replacement package was to be sent by express shipping (free of charge) immediately. Fantastic! Kudos for excellent customer service indeed, and a gold star from me.

Benefit Brow ZingsI'm also waiting for a parcel from Amira, which was shipped from France on February 24th. It's been 14 working days, and I'm seriously dreading that it won't arrive at all. Being impatient and awaiting mail isn't a very good combination. She got me a bottle of the gorgeous nail polish "Purple Rain" from NARS, which I instantly fell in love with when I saw swatches of it, and Brow Zings - Allure 2008 Best of Beauty Awards - brow shaping kit from Benefit Cosmetics. And I'd really like to get them soon. Not because I'm in desperate need of either of these products, but because I want to know that they have arrived, safe and sound. It's horrible not to know! Bah. Maybe tomorrow. Yes? Tomorrow it'll arrive.

I actually sent M·A·C Solar White to Amira the same day that she shipped my package, and it arrived in France after only two days. For some reason I had managed to buy two of the same color, a color I absolutely didn't need a backup of, and she had been searching for it. I was astonished by the short time it took to reach her! It's just sad that I can't say the same thing for my package. It's kinda funny though since the very first shipment she sent me took three days, and the postal system added to the time by several days ever since. I think Mr. Postman is well aware that I'm one of the most impatient beings in the world, and has decided to torture me, just for the fun of it. I'm still kinda hoping that it's been stalled by the weather in Europe or something, that it will arrive sometime soon. I feel bad for the sender, in this case Amira, when shipments don't arrive on time. I would be devastated myself if I had made a custom purchase for someone that never arrived, even though it's out of the senders control once it's been shipped.

Amira is now in possession of some very special treasures which have my name written all over them, and I'm scared senseless to lose them in the mail. Why? Amira just became my Heroine - with a capital H - by getting them for me, and I'm forever grateful to her. You know, I'm actually a very lucky girl to have incredible friends out there, like Amira and Ingrid, who's been willing to buy stuff for me and ship it all the way to Norway, just because I live in a country with horrible prices and a much smaller selection of brands and products than a lot of other countries. And because they both are absolute dolls, of course. I love you guys, I hope you know that - and if any of you ever need anything I can help you with, anything at all, don't hesitate to let me know!
