Paris Haul #2: It’s in the Eyes

It's time for the second part of my "Paris Haul" series, and this time I've dedicated my post to my favorite product: eyeshadows and the likes of it. Because of my situation I'm not much of a fan of swatching products in-store - testers are always placed out of reach for me, and I don't wanna start disassembling displays to be able to swatch them - but I did actually swatch most of the items I purchased in Paris, instead of buying blindly.

Since I'm very aware of having readers who couldn't care less about makeup and shopping, those of you who are interested will have to click "continue reading" for the juicy details, including pictures. I'll have the last part of my haul up in a few days, so please hang in there a little longer! Grin

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess: The Island OasisEstée Lauder Bronze Goddess: Island Oasis

During one of the many times I went to Sephora I discovered a display with their Bronze Goddess collection. I was amazed to see that the palette was still in stock, so I grabbed it. I remember Ingrid talking about it, and how much she liked this palette, and our taste in makeup is quite similar. The two darkest colors are my favorites in this palette, but the whole palette is very pigmented and nice! I'm not sure what I think of the packaging, but.. you know, the important thing is the shadows. A very nice palette for summer!

Givenchy Le Prisme: Midnight LookGivenchy Le Prisme: Midnight Look

Givenchy is another brand I have absolutely no experience with. I have often looked at their eyeshadow quartets, but I have for some reason never picked up anything from them. They had a limited edition palette called "Le Prismissime: Acid Lights", which I was eying for a while, but reviews online rated it so low I decided to stop searching and just forget about it. Instead I chose one of their Le Prisme Quartets, and once again I was quite impressed with the colors and texture. The two darker colors in this quartet are amazing, and nothing like anything I own from before. I think it would make a fierce smokey eye! The packaging is.. different, it comes with one tiny brush and two sponge applicators, located in a tiny drawer underneath the shadows and the lid closes with a magnet.

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow: Semi PreciousGolden Gaze · Smoked Ruby · Dark Indulgence · Blue Sheen

M·A·C launched their newest collection: Semi-Precious a day or two before I arrived in Paris, so I decided to take a peek at their new stuff. We all know that I'm a M·A·C fanatic, right? I'm not really into their mineralized products due to the usual glitter overload and massive fallout, but I knew a few of their new eyeshadows had to be mine and I was all prepared to scratch out someone's eye to get my hands on the ones I wanted. Oddly enough I didn't have to engage in combat, I just strolled into the M·A·C store closest to our hotel, asked for the items I wanted, and that was that. Easy-peasy! As you can see I chose the four darkest ones (black based), and I'm very pleased with the pigmentation and texture of all of them.

Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense: Pulp Fiction and Lust RedPulp Fiction · Lust Red
[swatches] [swatches]

Now, the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense eyeshadows are in a completely different league than the rest of the items in this post, and I absolutely hate this photo for not showing.. anything! They are so silky smooth, soft and wonderful like you wouldn't believe, and they cost a piece of your soul. In addition to a medium sized bag of gold coins. And a string of freshwater pearls. Each! I wasn't planning on buying any of them, mainly because of the price, but I was silly enough to swatch them. I walked out of Printemps with a black glossy bag from Giorgio Armani, containing "02 Lust Red" - a unique and breathtaking red shade, feeling very happy with my purchase. I had pretty much decided on skipping the second one I wanted - "04 Pulp Fiction", but during my very last shopping spree I caved and added it to my collection after all. Yes, I'm hopeless. I know.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres: EnigmaChanel Les 4 Ombres: Enigma

Chanel Les 4 Ombres: Smoky EyesChanel Les 4 Ombres: Smoky Eyes

Yeah, so do you remember me chanting over and over again how I refused to get into Chanel? Well, I failed. And failed again. Fieran had told me that if I wanted to get one palette from Chanel, it should be their "19 Enigma". So I got it, and it's truly a very nice and versatile palette I'm happy to have in my possession. Later I had another weak moment - let's just call it "enjoying-vacation-mush-for-brain" - and picked up "93 Smoky Eyes" as well. This was one of the few items I didn't swatch beforehand, and as it turns out it might be a bit too sparkly to my liking, but I'll do my best to find use for it.

I did also get my hands on two other Chanel palettes, thanks to a couple of wonderful souls out there, but since they arrived in my mailbox while I was on vacation they don't belong in this post. More information will come later, I promise! Although, please note that I hang my head in shame. Wink

MAC LinersPowersurge · Blooz · Engraved · Blue Noon

Pencils. I love pencils. Especially pencils from M·A·C. And God knows I own a lot of them. I picked these up at the ginormous Sephora at Champs-Elysées, which this time around had a lot nicer staff than they did last year. The MUA there drew a mighty fine eyeliner on me using their Technakohl in "Graphblack", but when she went to get it for me it turned out to be out of stock, so she handed me "Engraved". They had quite the stock of "Blue Noon" from Surf Baby left, so I got one of those despite of already owning "Float on By" from To the Beack from last summer. "Blue Noon" seems to be greener and more complex than its bluer sibling "Float on By", but they are indeed quite similar. "Powersurge" was completely new to me for some odd reason, the bronze-brown color is wonderful, and "Blooz" has been on my wish list for quite some time.

MAKE UP FOR EVER[swatches]

A while back MAKE UP FOR EVER launched a limited edition mini collection called Trés Vichy consisting of a pair of lashes and an eyeshadow duo. I instantly fell in love with the lashes, and I was so sad that I was unable to order them for the US at the time. During one of my Sephora escapades I was standing in front of the MUFE aisle just browsing, when I for some reason looked down - and there they were! A single pair of the super cute "160 Trés Vichy" lashes with the bow and everything, and I'm quite sure they were meant for me. I also picked up another "Smoky Lash Mascara", one of my favorites, and three of their new Aqua Liner Eye Liners in "03" (emerald green), "08" (bright purple) and "11" (plum burgundy).

Dior Gift Set[swatches] [swatches]

On-board the boat, roaming through the duty-free store, I also found this little gift set from Dior, which I thought to be perfect to try out a few of their products. It contained a full-size Eyeliner Pencil in 090 Black, a full-size Diorshow Extase Mascara in 090 Black and a mini 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow palette in "004 Mystic Smokys". This way I got three Dior products without having to pay an arm and a leg, and the mini palette is seriously the cutest thing ever! Why don't they make more of these smaller palettes?

  1. Those MAC eyeshadows look so pretty in the pan. Do they swatch well?

    Once again, great haul lol.

I’m not going to link it as that’s against your policy, but on my blog I’ve just blogged about that lipstick you kindly sent me! I mention you in it too, if you have some free time you might want to take a look Razz x

    • Thank you so much! Smile You know, even though I’m not a fan of the M·A·C MES, I like these a lot. Yes, they swatch well! A lot of the MES from this collection are quite sheer and poorly pigmented, but these four are gorgeous.

Oh, and feel free to link to your blog! It’s just the “RE:” comments I hate. Wink Thank you so much for your sweet mention, I really appreciate it!

  2. Så masse fint! Grin
Ble forelska i MAC smoked ruby <3

You lucky girl Smile

  5. Has anyone ever told you what an excellent shopper you are? Wink I’m sure they have. Anyway, love your new goodies! Hope you’ll enjoy them for a very long time dear, you’ve earned them! Smile

    • Thank you for the wonderful compliment, sweets! You know, I keep joking about becoming a certified personal shopper, I think I’d do my job very well. Wink Love them too! And I love you as well!
