Hauls + Splurges = Treasures

Even though I've decided to stop shopping for a while, I had to ask Øyvind to stop by DHL today to pick up a package for me. Mr. DHL didn't call me this morning, although the tracking told me that my package had arrived and was sitting in their office, all lonely and sad. It contained a collective haul consisting of products from M·A·C, Urban Decay, Origins, Stila, Benefit, Jack Black and Tarte! Man, that list made it sound like I've gone mad with my VISA once again, but I swear it wasn't that bad. I've actually been a good girl since I said I'd stop shopping for a while to save up some fun money for Paris, apart from a tiny little slip where I ended up getting a few items from M·A·C when ordering some things for a good friend of mine. Oh well, nothing too bad at least, and I think I've been good.

Let's move on to my precious DHL shipment, shall we? I'm well aware of my list being a bit long, but bear in mind that these items have accumulated through April and May and some where purchased at a discount.

  • M·A·C Packed to Go: 6 Cool Smokey Eyes Palette
  • M·A·C Packed to Go: 6 Warm Smokey Eyes Palette
  • M·A·C Eye Shadow in "Fresh Daisy" (frosty white yellow)
  • M·A·C Eye Shadow in "Groundcover" (mid-tone warm grey)
  • M·A·C Eye Shadow in "Bows & Curtseys" (metallic hunter green)
  • M·A·C Lipglass in "Strange Potion" (soft coral pink)
  • M·A·C Beauty Powder in "Alpha Girl" (soft peachy pink w/ gold)
  • M·A·C Careblend Powder in "Gold-Go-Lightly" (mid-tone golden tan brown)
  • M·A·C Careblend Powder in "Medium Dark" (caramel beige)

We all know that M·A·C is my cryptonite, especially with the launch of new and interesting collections, but lately I haven't really been into anything of theirs. Fashion Flower didn't interest me at all as I found the colors dull and boring, but I chose to buy the three LE eyeshadows I didn't already own anyway. "Alpha Girl" was merely a spontaneous decision, which I don't regret in any way. I also wanted to compare it to the original "Alpha Girl" which was released with Heatherette in 2008. I wasn't going to order anything from Surf, Baby! since I already have a little haul coming my way from that collection, but couldn't resist picking up one of the Careblend Powders in "Gold-Go-Lightly" as it was still in stock when I ordered some stuff for a friend of mine - and "Strange Potion" had to be mine since I skipped it when it was launched with Venomous Villains in 2010. For some reason the regular (permanent) Careblend Powder has been sold out at my local M·A·C counter for a long time, so I didn't bother waiting any longer and ordered it online instead. It's been highly praised amongst beauty bloggers, and it's supposed to be excellent on its own over only a moisturizer. There's no excuse explanation behind the two traveling palettes from Packed to Go, I just liked them and traveling palettes are so neat when.. traveling. Grin

  • Urban Decay Palette in "Rollergirl"
  • Urban Decay Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in "Bulletproof" (medium)
  • Urban Decay Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder

Even though Urban Decay ranges a bit lower on my list of favorite brands I still like them a lot, and I have a thing for their many palettes with never-ending repeating colors. When the "Rollergirl" palette launched with the hot pink "Woodstock" as one of its colors, and a matching tube of lip junkie, I kinda had to include it in my collection. I think it's a fun, neutral-ish palette perfect for summer. I've also been on a lookout for a tinted moisturizer for a while now since I don't really use foundation. I wanted to try the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil-Free, but ended up deciding that it was too expensive to order without having been matched to the correct color first. I therefore purchased the new Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer from Urban Decay instead, and if I'm to judge from the reviews online it might just be a good buy. I'll do a review or something when I've tried it out for a while.

  • Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in "Peacock" (vibrant teal sheen)
  • Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in "Moray" (golden olive sheen)
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in "Blissful" (warm peach)
  • Kat Von D True Romance Palette in "Angeles"

Now, if you haven't tried a Stila Smudge Stick before I'm tempted to ask what you're waiting for. I purchased one in "Koi" (metallic gold) a while back, and I've been dreaming of owning them all ever since. Stila isn't a cheap brand by any means, so I've never gotten around to buying any more before I stumbled upon a discount. These propel pencils are really vibrant, soft and long-lasting - and I will be picking up more until I own all eight colors. I don't have much to say about the two last products. I'm a sucker for peachy blushes, and really liked the two other Amazonian Clay blushes I got after a recommendation on Twitter - and how could I decline the new True Romance palette from Kat Von D? What can I say, I'm a fan. VampyVarnish has some really nice pictures and swatches here, if you'd like to check them out.

  • Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara in "Black"
  • Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 in "Original"
  • Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen
  • Japonesque Brow Groomer - Scissor and Comb

Regarding the remaining three items, their reputation proceeds them (while the Japonesque Brow Groomer just looked handy as I'm in desperate need of keeping my brows trimmed). I also received a free Sephora Case for iPhone 4 which made my iPhone look trendy and cool, and a free pack of pins from M·A·C Quite Cute.

Hopefully there will be two more haul posts shortly, but these items were all purchased before I decided to stop shopping for a while. Do I feel remorse for splurging on even more makeup? No. I feel pleased and content. This is my hobby, and I enjoy playing with makeup and colors, expressing myself artistically.

Grin

Smile *kram!*

  4. i love your haul!! i have Tarte blush in Blissful and Exposed, I want them ALL! I’m a sucker for blushes! I can’t wait to get my camera in a few weeks, you make me want to do posts of my hauls!

    • Thank you so much, dear! You too, huh? I bought my first two after a random recommendation, and I just had to have “Blissful” too. I see many people mention “Exposed”, I need that one too? Aaw, I take that as a huge compliment – and please send me a message if you do, I’m dying to see your videos! Grin
