China Glaze Holiday 2010 Collection

I think I should admit to someone, most importantly myself maybe, that I'm a total sucker for shimmery nail polish. When I saw the new Holiday 2010 collection from China Glaze yesterday I just had to go on a hunt for proper swatches, and Scrangie is one of those fantastic nail bloggers who rarely lets me down. I quickly pegged which ones I wanted, and hurried off to Trans Design to place my order, just as I use to. From earlier experience these special polishes tend to sell out fairly quickly, so I wanted to be sure I'd get mine before they are gone. Unfortunately TD is only offering 12 of the polishes in this collection - why they don't offer "Mommy Kissed Santa", "Jingle Bells", "Frosty" or "Snow" is unknown - so I scampered off to Head2Toe instead. A few minutes later my order had been placed, and now I'm crossing my fingers it'll arrive shortly!

I'm not a very Christmas-y person as we all already know, but these polishes ended up giving me warm, fuzzy feelings inside, reminding me of Christmas when I was a kid and actually liked snow.

"Frosty" is a gorgeous white shimmer, totally reminding me of powdery, magical snow. There are six different reds in the collection, but I was instantly drawn to "Sugar Plums", a plum shimmer with glitter - and "Mommy Kissing Santa", a gorgeous rich cranberry shimmer. "Little Drummer Boy" is an absolutely stunning rich blue shimmer - I love the name, and it's also one of very few Christmas songs I like to listen to. "Midnight Kisses" is a pretty gold shimmer, and "Cheers to You" looks like silver shimmer twin. The wild card of my order is "Party Hearty" which is a glitter top coat-mix of red, green, silver and gold glitter - this is not typically a polish I would order, but it looked quite unique, and I'm sure I'll find a way to layer it.

The total price for seven nail polishes? $37 included shipping to Norway by USPS First-Class Mail International ($15.70), or about 213,- NOK with today's exchange rate. They cost a little less than amazing 17,- NOK per bottle! Now I'm just a little anxious to see whether or not Head2Toe declare the shipments correctly (value and shipping separate), or if I have to pay taxes and fees upon arrival.

Choose between the 16 colors, or get all of them from Head2Toe.

Det ble Cheers To You, Midnight Kiss, Frosty, Little Drummer Boy, Jolly Holly, Party Hearty, Jingle Bells og Peace On Eart.

  6. Ahh I want Little Drummer Boy and one of the Green ones. .*drool* I’m trying to grit my teeth for another 2.5 weeks. Must…resist.

  7. Linda:
Smile

Let me guess, “Jolly Holly”? I must admit I’m regretting that I didn’t get it a little, but then again I’m quite sure I wouldn’t use it. Not too big a fan av green. 2.5 weeks is a looong time when you’re waiting for something! Stay strong, dear. Grin

  8. Actually I think the green I want is “Peace on Earth”… it’s just that after Midnight Mission, I’m in love with the formula for China Glaze. It’s so easy to use but I also know that I can get better choices when I’m on vacation. This no-shopping-till-the-trip is very tough! Smile

  9. Fieran:
I don’t know what I think about the formula. Every time I think my favorite is ChG I try some polish which misbehaves badly, and then I fall in love with O·P·I again, and then I hit some polish that disappoints me.. and so on and so forth.

Are you experiencing butterflies? I know I’d love to go to San Francisco! No-shopping-restraints are horrible, but I’m guessing you’ll find tons of cool stuff to get in the US instead. Save your money, and go nuts when there! Grin

Gah.

  12. Yes Miss Shamini Smile Will definitely listen to you and be a bit stronger in resisting temptation. Used She Who Dares today – but it just looks like it is one colour. Doesn’t stand out as well as I would like it to so I’m going to try (on another day) using only one half of it with a plain matte color..maybe that will make it stand out better.

Btw, we have a date on 30th or 31st right? Maybe we can chat on Google chat or something and order the stuff. I’m looking forward to peeking at your list. *HUG* Hope you’re having a nice day.

  13. Fieran:
I don’t know if I should be preaching about resisting temptation, though. I’m just trying to be supportive! Wink Hm, I like your thoughts about using “She Who Dares” with a plain matte. Will you take pictures for us to see? Smile

The date is on as long as nothing unforeseen pops up, 30th or 31st is your choice. Although, I’m not able to order to another address than my own (MyUS-address) since I’ll have to use their “Personal Shopper” with Sephora. Don’t know how we’ll solve that? Really looking forward to seeing your list as well! Grin

Have a splendid day, darling! *HUG*
