Dog Show: Norsk Miniatyrhund Klubb

Jesus, what a day. Let me just tell you that it all started late last night when I decided that I wasn't going to bed, but sit up all night instead. No, I haven't gone crazy. We had planned to attend a dog show in Verdal today, and knowing that I wouldn't be able to drag myself out of bed at 6:30 AM - after only four hours of sleep - I figured I'd better stay awake to be sure not to miss the show. And as said as done. We drove to Verdal, where we had to ask for directions twice to find the damned place, and finally arrived just five minutes before it was supposed to be our turn in the ring. God, I absolutely hate being late for scheduled things! Thankfully there had been some delays, so it turned out we weren't in any rush at all. The weather was really nice, even though it was a little cold in the shadows, but it was a very nice experience. We got to talk to some new people, meet several gorgeous dog and we even got to look at some puppies for sale.

Kunne hatt noe mer markert panne. Fint nosparti, korrekt bitt md store, fine tenner. Mørke øyne, tilstrekkelig størrelse. Velplasserte ører, bra hals. Behøver utvikles i kroppen. Noe lavt ansatt hale. Bra fremvinkler, noe knappe bak. Velbåren hale. Rør seg bra fram, men unde seg bak. Kunne hatt bedre fraspark bak. Lovende pels.

Judge: Ann-Christin Johansson, Sweden

When time was 11:00 AM it was finally our turn - I actually started worrying that we had missed our spot - to enter the ring for the second time ever. I participated in the world of showing with my Chinchillas long time ago so I'm not completely green, but on the other hand showing a dog is something completely different. Theo is a young dog, and he's both curious and easy to distract. We have been training a lot lately and Øyvind has done a wonderful job with him so far. Even if he could have walked better and been a bit more focused in the ring, I think he did great and I was very proud of him as he won his class!

Unfortunately it was cold outside as already mentioned, and this - in combination with being a little insecure because of all the new sounds, smells and impressions - caused him to curl up a little bit. If he had stretched out his hind legs as he's supposed to it would have raised his tail a bit more, and he would have looked a lot better in front of the judge.

Theo was awarded two red ribbons, one for 'very good' quality and then one for 1st place. I have to admit that it would have been fun to be awarded a purple ribbon or even a pink one, but we're aiming for one of those next time. It's important to have goals! Wink
