93 days until Paris

It's incredibly nice to have something to look forward to, and the upcoming trip to Paris has really taken my everyday life up a notch! Usually we talk about doing things, like going away on a little trip or a larger vacation, but it just never happens. Now we've booked tickets for another cruise with M/S Color Magic, just as we did last September. We're bringing our car, and the plan is to drive from Kiel in the north of Germany to Paris in France. I'm so excited, and I can't wait to actually see and experience things along the road towards Paris! I've also booked seven nights at a hotel in the historic part of Paris, with wheelchair access and everything, and we've been talking about what we want to see and do when we get there. Since our hotel room's only function is to act as a base for us to sleep and freshen up in, we didn't go for anything extravagant. It looks really nice judging from the pictures on their website, and they're offering wheelchair accessible rooms which is naturally one of my main criteria when I want to stay at a hotel.

  • Had the car checked at NAF
  • Booked tickets for the Oslo-Kiel/Kiel-Oslo cruise
  • Booked a hotel room in Paris for seven nights

The more I can check off my todo-list as things that are done or ready, the better I'm feeling. I have to admit that I'm a "planner", one who needs to know that everything's running smoothly. Unfortunately you can never guarantee that your flawless plan will remain flawless when you're traveling with a wheelchair, no matter how many e-mails you've sent or phone calls you've made in advance. So from all my years of experience when traveling around the world I've learned that there's really only one thing to do: expect the obstacles and overcome them as they appear.

Now, I'm absolutely confident that our trip to Paris will be extraordinary. I don't understand how I'm supposed to wait for July to come, but at the same time I'm really looking forward to enjoying the upcoming spring and summer. The sun is already gracing us with more frequent visits, and today the outdoor temperature reached 10'C! The gorgeous weather with the blue skies and all makes me wanna go outside, but during Easter everything's closed. It's sad to acknowledge, but I need open, exciting stores or cafés with excellent coffee do drag my body outside this time of year. I hate being cold, and I hate wearing lots of clothes - so don't you dare telling me that "there's no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing", because I promise I'll hate you a little bit as well.

93 more days to go! Grin

  1. Paris is great. Enjoy!

  2. Can I come? I promise to be quiet in the car and hotelroom and everything…

  3. Geir: thank you so much! If you have any tips about where to go and what to see, then please share. I have an idea about what I want to see and do, but you might know of something I haven’t thought about. Smile

Licota: hm, no.. don’t think so. Wink And you’re going to Scotland soon, so I don’t feel sorry for you at all. I’m dying to see the Scottish Highlands! Although, you can have the haggis for yourself. I promise to take lots of pictures while we’re there. OK?

  4. Ok! Smile I promise to take a lot of pictures too. Hihi.

  5. Ah, congrats Grin Nice trip. And Paris is quite lovely in the summer.

Unfortunately, I’m not enough of a francophile to suggest places to seeThinking
