M/S Color Magic

There's no excuse, but I haven't felt like blogging for a long time. I don't wanna turn into one of those bloggers I detest, so I'll refrain from pouring my guts out about what I ate for dinner yesterday, and how much I just have to fill my blog with page after page of meaningless ranting.

Last weekend was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. We went on a trip with one of Color Line's newest boats, M/S Color Magic, from Oslo to Kiel and back. What a size! I can honestly say that I'm not the biggest fan of boats, not since the dreadful trip with Hurtigruta a couple of years ago, but I can hardly wait for the time and possibility to take another trip. Everything was accessible by wheelchair, and next time I'll try to take my electric wheelchair instead of the regular one. On board there was all kinds of facilities, like restaurants, shops, places to party, bars and so on. Something for everyone! We spent quite some hours at Manhattan Bar on the 7th deck, where I discovered my new favorite drink: Sour Appletini. I drank the total of 5 or 6, and that's a lot to be me, in addition to a Sex on the Beach, a Piña Colada, an absolutely dreadful Banana Daiquiri and a couple of Captain Morgans - naturally during the whole weekend. It was delightful to experience a bar where they actually had all the needed ingredients, and bartenders with enough knowledge to mix everything that was offered. Apart from being social we spent some money in the tax-free store where we bought some liquor and naturally some sweets. I cannot leave those M&Ms behind. We got a bottle of Caol Ila 12 years old Single Malt, Bacardi Apple (for making those Sour Appletinis at home), Sheridan's Original Double Irish Liqueur, and a bottle of Malibu Tropical Banana Rum for the grand total of 874,- NOK. If we had bought the same at Vinmonopolet, the grand total would have been no less than 1733,- NOK. Am I the only one who thinks it's outrageous?

The last evening we decided to eat at Oceanic á la Carte Restaurant, and I can honestly say that it was the best food I've ever had at a restaurant! I had veal, and it was the tenderest veal I've tasted. So good! I was also very pleased with my experience with the Tapas Bar and Mama Bella Pizza Ristorante, and the coffee at Café Oriental was really good. I even had a piece of Irish Cream cake, which looked like it had been covered in shimmering nail polish. Very nice, but it tasted pretty much as it looked. Apart from talking about the food, I have to thank those who traveled with us and made the trip unforgettable. Thank you so much for a great experience, and I hope we'll get the chance to do it all over again soon, hopefully also including my parents! Grin
